The Hilliard Davidson Football Team Luncheon at the Makoy Center, with guest speakers Anthony Schlegel and Larry Larson, was held November 23, 2005, celebrating a great season to date with more to come. Decorations and food service provided by the Touchdown Club and other team supporters. The food, provided by Davidson High School, was catered by DiCarlo's Pizza.  The place looked great. Here are a few pictures so you can get a feel for what happened and a little about what the speakers said.  (See photos below.)

51- Anthony Schlegel - Linebacker for OSU

Anthony is unquestionably the "free spirit" on the OSU team and has fun in all that he does ... enjoys pushing the envelope (has gone wild boar hunting with dogs and a knife in Texas) ... grew up in Texas and has always enjoyed the outdoors ... originally enrolled at the Air Force Academy, but transferred to Ohio State after his sophomore season and was married on Valentine's Day of 2004 to his wife, Stephanie, who is a graduate of Texas A&M and is a high school teacher at Hilliard Davidson. (Taken from OSU Web site)

During today’s luncheon, Anthony returned for his second visit to speak to the team having visited them at the beginning of the season. Looking very much the college student, wearing jeans, A Hilliard Davidson Championship T-shirt, long hair and later sporting a green John Deere cap with his OSU varsity jacket, Anthony seemed to fit right in with the team and bring it to them, player to player. Anthony started out by saying, “You gotta hit people with bad intentions,” and went on to explain that everyone needs to be prepared and focused on every play, not to be distracted by the weather or where they are playing. He also told the team “to bring it to them early… let them know you will be there the whole game.” Anthony wrapped it up by saying, “Kick the crap out of St. X”.

Larry Larson – “Mr. High School Sports” on WTVN Radio
(the game will be broadcast Saturday night on AM 1230)

“Mr. High School Sports” also came back to fire up the team, staying down in front with no need for a microphone. You could easily see him as he was when coaching his own team, before going into radio, getting them pumped before the big game. Larry talked about how the game of football is played through the efforts of all the players, whether starting or not. He also spoke to the team about how they have been given a gift to be able to play football for Hilliard Davidson and their hard work has been rewarded with another gift, to play for the State Championship. Larry told the team that you must “believe that you can win - at anytime.” He went on to say that the team now has a chance to do something really exciting, the chance to knock off St. X, the 9th rated team, not in the state, but in the country.
