This is a special group! And you always hear that about Championship teams.
The first thing you notice about this group is that they are selfless. Each
of them plays within the system and performs their role for the common good.
The role may not be one that is highlighted by the common observer, but they
do it anyway. I can honestly say that every player on this team has stepped
up on many occasions to make the play when needed.
This team epitomizes the words desire and family!! The desire and heart that
they show weekly is amazing! They just will themselves to do great things!
Big hits, key blocks, timely turnovers...it's all there. This team is truly
special! And not because of their record, but because of the type of men
they have become! They come to play every week! They are doubted almost
constantly, yet show up and deliver! There is NO WAY this group of players
should be where they are. But as a TEAM, they are precisely where they
planned and deserve to be! Playing within this system and playing selflessly
for the common good has delivered these men to the pinnacle of Ohio High
School football.
This year's senior class has been nothing but champions! They never lost
an OCC game (15), they are 3-peat champs of the OCC Buckeye, finished no
worse than regional runner up, had 2 undefeated seasons, went 29-1 in the
regular season (winning 29 straight) and have now taken Hilliard football to
its highest level ever… State Champions!
Cats you surpassed all that came before you! You can already be called the
greatest team to ever play for Hilliard Davidson. And you did it in a way
that is both respected and celebrated by your fans AND opponents. For a team
to have a run like you've had and still have the support of the entire
region is phenomenal! Understand, that most usually hate a winner... because
it’s easy to become cocky or arrogant when you've had the success you've
had. But look around! The entire region is behind you! And not just because
it's Region 3 against the world, but because of who you are! You represent
this area with class and heart! And everybody can appreciate that! With each
team we encounter and beat, we seem to pick them up as fans. That says TONS
about the character and class of this program! Be proud of that, I know I
am!
Think 20 years ahead. Think about when you come back to this high school
with YOUR kids. And you take them into that gym and see the Banner that
reads "2006 STATE CHAMPIONS". Men, no matter what happens, the memories you
made for yourselves and this community will last forever. They are
unparalleled by anything you've ever felt! To stand at the summit of a great
accomplishment is a wonderful feeling. The friendships and special bonds
you've built within your CAT family will be solidified forever! And it will
be represented by that banner that will forever hang in that gymnasium;
where everyone will be able to remember the feelings of pride and
accomplishment of the team of 2006... The Greatest team in Hilliard history!
SO when you come back to you old school, the banner will be there! When your
kids and grandkids come back, the banner will be there. When you are long
gone, the banner will be there! The banner will be there to symbolize not
only the victory, but the collective accomplishment of a few great kids
working together to accomplish something never accomplish in the history of
Hilliard!
Men...this community is proud of you either way. You've exceeded all
expectations!

To David Saul: Thank you for your hard work in

enjoyed sorting through them each week. Thanks again for your time and

".....To the seniors and other members of this team. If I'm not mistaken,
you won more games this year than any team in Davidson history. You won TWO
OCC Championships, one Regional Championship, played the 9th ranked team in
the nation and gave them ALL they wanted, had an undefeated season and a 9-1
season (where your only loss was to the eventual state champs in Michigan),
and won the hearts and respect of Hilliard, Central Ohio, and
many across the state.
You put Davidson on the map across the state. You will be the benchmark by
which all future teams will be measured! You accomplished more than anyone
in the history of this school. Gentlemen, it's been an honor and a
privilege to support you and watch you guys play this game.
I will miss watching these seniors play! I've watched many of you start for
3 years. Most for at least 2. And in those 30-some games, I never saw you
quit or outside the bounds of good sportsmanship. You are winners! Not just
because of your record, but because of the way you handle yourselves as men.
You are class acts and you let your play do the talking. You respect the
game and your opponent. You took everything in stride. Never let the
success go to your head or the failures go to your heart! That is the sign
of a winner. A true Champion.
Men, in our eyes you are Champions! And you represent what we in Hilliard
hope for our youth. Classy, successful people on their way to great things.
You are on your way! Good luck to you all in life!! I think it's safe to
say that this community will never forget the team of 2005! "
